Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician


Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 40 hrs/week

Salary Range:
$20 - $25 hourly depending upon experience.

About the Clinic:
Certified as a Fear-Free practice, Dragon Lake Veterinary hospital is a fast-paced, modern, and exciting Vet clinic in Quesnel, BC. We are a mixed animal practice with opportunities to assist on farm calls for cattle, horses, goats, llamas, and other unique livestock. In-clinic we have a large animal ward for exams, emergency care, equine dentals, etc. On the small animal side, we also have many unique patients from guinea pigs to bearded dragons.

Our clinic emphasizes preventative care, performing diagnostics, and providing complete care. This means that with each exam we document detailed patient history and clinical findings which we then use to create an individualized care plan for each patient.

Quesnel offers a great lifestyle with many local activity clubs. There are many trails to enjoy either on foot, bicycle, or horseback. After your day-hike is done and you want to unwind, there are many opportunities for a nice evening out including great restaurants and live shows to enjoy.

Job Duties:

  • Perform preliminary physical exams
  • Calculate IV fluid rates
  • Calculate medication dosing
  • Place IV catheters
  • Assist with surgeries – monitor anesthetic and vitals
  • Assist with dentistry – oral exam, full mouth x-rays, dental probing/documenting, scale/polish, placing nerve blocks as necessary
  • Other RVT duties as needed


Qualifications:

  • Veterinary Technician degree from accredited Post-Secondary institute
  • A License as an RVT in BC
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Compassion for patients and their owners
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Active listening and critical thinking skills
  • Computer skills
  • One year experience working as an RVT (preferred)

  • Diagnose, treat, or research diseases and injuries of animals
  • Provide care to a wide range of animals, including livestock, pets, exotic and birds 
  • Experience is preferred and dictates wage

  • Doctorate degree and current Canadian Veterinary License
